Chocolate fudge is a simple, sugary treat intended to be picked up and eaten at room temperature or refrigerated.

3 cups (18 oz) chocolate chips
1 can (14 oz) sweetened condensed milk
1 tsp vanilla (optional)
Use a double boiler to melt the chocolate chips. Failing to use a double boiler will result in burned chocolate.
Add the sweetened condensed milk. Stir until mixed.
Pour into a lined baking dish, bowl, or other mold. Expect it to stick if you don't use wax paper or foil.
Let cool for several hours.
